Fancy Nancy

March 21st, 2010

As promised I am back, and I have a fun story and photos to share.

For all my readers with daughters, nieces, or god-daughters have you ever read them the book Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Conner?  It is the cutest story about a little girl that makes every thing fancy by wearing tiaras and feather boas.  I have started a collection of these books for both my niece Maddy and my god-daughter Abbie. I often hear stories about how each little girl will walk around the house exclaiming that they are fancy “Maddy” or fancy “Abbie”.  I just love it!

So when we heard that a local tea house was having a Fancy Nancy Tea Party and book reading we just couldn’t say no!

Off to Williamsburg we went yesterday to the Yankee Candle Outlet.

Within their store they have a little tea house/restaurant where we had lunch.

{please note that Maddy is carrying a real Kate Spade purse, handed down to her by her Aunt TT.  It was too tiny of a purse for me, but just the perfect size for her.  Good Taste starts early!}

After lunch, Mrs. Claus read the girls a Fancy Nancy Book.

They sat very still and listened to the the whole story.  But they kept asking why Mrs. Claus was reading to them and not Nancy. Wasn’t sure how to answer that.  I wasn’t even sure why Mrs. Claus was there! {ha-ha}

It was such a fun adventure and I think the girls really enjoyed themselves.  On the ride back to Richmond, Keri {Maddy’s mom} and I were discussing how cute a Fancy Nancy Tea Party Birthday Party would be.  Or how we could do this very same Lunch and Tea with Nancy idea in Richmond, with a few improvements.  We are thinking about getting in touch with some local tea houses to pitch the idea.  What do you guys think?

    How fun! I want to be a fancy “Joette.” Those little girls are too stinkin’ cute!

    This is so cute I can’t stand it! I wish Vivi was into the Fancy Nancy book her aunt TT gave her, but she’s just not “fancy” yet! Soon I am sure! I think a big Tea Party in Richmond would be so fun!!

    I fell in love with Fancy Nancy myself and wished it had been around for Totty when she was younger. I introduced Nancy to Totty. I think a Tea party in Richmond would be great and I want to come.

    What a great idea. I just recently heard of the book because I have a family friend named Nancy and her younger daughter has been buying the books for her and has since nicknamed her Fancy Nancy. I would love to give this as a gift to my neice with a tiarra and boa. Is is Five. Do you think the book is to young for her?

    Like Josie, I want to be “fancy”.
    The Jeff does tea regularly, I think you should pitch the idea to them.

    My daughter is also all about being “Fancy.” If it isn’t fancy, it isn’t happening:)

    ALSO, I’m SO EXCITED to tell you this because the church where I work (in town) is PLANNING a Fancy Nancy Tea and reading! I’ll keep you posted!
