To “Mom Bathing Suit” or not.. That is the question!

July 31st, 2011

Hope I didn’t scare you guys away with the title of this post…  But I learned quickly, while at the beach recently, that teeny bikinis and babies don’t quite mesh.  Not only is the body still a bit out of place from carrying a child for 10 months in-utero, but said child out-of-utero is quite likely to pull down cute bikini top exposing you know what.  I’ve been on the search for the perfect bathing suit since…

Today at Target this caught my eye…

Love Your Assets-Halter Swim Dress…$50

Okay- so I haven’t worn a 1 piece since I was a tween and I’m not sure if I’m ready to again or not.  But this one seems baby friendly.  Still fun and flirty, yet stable enough to chase after and carry vannyB.

And I forgot to mention that it is made by the same company that makes Spanx Undergarments, but this is their Target Line called Love Your Assets.  The bathing suit helps lift, tuck, and hide all the right places.  Convenient right?

What’s my hold up then??

Mini Makeover- Master Bedroom- Sneak Peek

July 28th, 2011

So you know how us vB’s like to start projects, but never really finish them? {ehm..Mr.vB?!}

Enter the Master Bedroom.

We created this awesome paneling as our headboard about a year and half ago, and it still has yet to receive its final coat of paint.

I’ve been meaning to get to that for about a year and a half now.. ha-ha.

So I’ve finally gotten the much needed kick in the pants to get it done, plus I’m working on some new artwork for either side of the bed and changing up the pillows a bit.

Here’s where the inspirations came from…

Grace Happens.

I immediately fell in love with the bolster idea.

A Word from the Worthington’s.

I’ve always loved how my friend and neighbor Anne created this cool artwork out of a calendar.

So with inspiration in my sails I set out to find

{1.} fabric for the bolster pillow and {2.} a book/calendar to make into artwork.

And let me tell you, it didn’t take me long.

Here’s a sneak peak at both…

So now all that is left to do is have the bolster made and find frames for the artwork.

Oh and yeah, PAINT!  Stay Tuned!

Bedroom Makeover, Home Improvement

8 months and 9 days…

July 26th, 2011

Another month means more cute photos of vannyB

This month he has learned to say mama, dada, and just starting to say bye-bye.  The first morning that I was home from my work trip I was greeted at 6am by a little voice yelling from his crib, “mamamamama”…How could I not resist running in and scooping up this cutie-patootie?

Let’s see what else… His little teef’ers are coming in, but in their own style. Apparently most kids get their bottom and top front teeth first.  Well vB has gotten his bottom 2 and the teeth to each side of the front teeth- But not the front teeth!  I asked his doctor if this was okay as I feared he may not have any front teeth.  Luckily she reassured me while it was unique, he most probably did have front teeth!

{see fangs above}

Van also has been spotted walking behind his fun new walker borrowed from his friend Peliah, as well as riding on his new Mickey Mouse Airplane.  Forget the toys that don’t make lots of noise or help him to move around!

And we possibly have the next Karate Kid on our hands?

I’m sososo in love with this little dude, but honestly who wouldn’t be?

Working 9 to 5…

July 25th, 2011

Last week I was working more like 5 to 9 and I’m pooped!

I spent the majority of the week up in Baltimore for some work training and logged long hours either driving, sitting, or pumping.  You read that correct.  Being a working mom means I had to sneak away every 3 hours or so for a little one on one time with my breast pump.  Here is the end results..

30 or so bags of love for my little dude.

I also got to go to Ikea one night and spend an hour or two roaming the aisles for ideas.  Plus I picked up the new furniture for my office.  Remember that post? It’s finally coming to fruition! Now I just have to sell the existing desk and bookcase to make room for the new stuff!  {Any takers?}

Stay Tuned this week for a bunch of posts- I’ve got a ton of projects to up date you on.

I’ve finally finished the {awesome} pelmet boxes for the living room, got a few ideas up my sleeve for a mini bedroom makeover, and of course will be updating you on the office makeover!

Exciting Stuff Right?!

Beach Babe!

July 10th, 2011

So last weekend me, Mr. vB and the boy headed down to Myrtle beach for some 4th of July Festivities!

I was a bit tentative about how the 6 hour drive would go, but the boy{s} did fine.

Vanny stayed entertained with his toys, one of which was his momma’s iPad.

And Mr. vB was entertained by walkie-talkie-ing his brother who was in the car behind us.

We had a great 4.5 days of beach, sun, food, and most importantly hanging with family!

Here’s some photos of our fun, in no particular order…

{cousin lily anne}

{vanny LOVED the sand almost as much as he loves his daddy}

{van channeling his inner Bruce Springsteen}

{the vB’s}

{the other vB’s}

{I should’ve brought a hair clip!}

So my days of relaxing at the beach are officially over.  Van loved the sand and he was non stop the entire time we were at the beach.  By the end of each day we were BOTH covered head to toe in sand.

Thanks Gigi and Hootie for the great southern hospitality!  We had an awesome time!
