White Christmas

December 19th, 2009

Here is a sight that I have not seen in a long time!!

DSC_0181Christmas Tree + Snow= White Christmas

Virginia is getting slammed with a winter storm this weekend.  I think we currently have 9″-12″ of snow on the ground in Richmond and we are expecting more by afternoon.

Mr.vB and I have not ventured out yet, just the dogs.  And let me tell you, Boots is NOT a fan of this weather.  I couldn’t get him to go out this AM for his morning tinkle.  I swear he kept his back 2 legs in the door as he relieved himself!

Here’s some shots of our backyard from the warmth of our back room.

So much for finishing up any of my xmas shopping today!  I don’t think we will be going anywhere anytime soon, unless it is on foot!

Christmas, Dogs

100% Cotton

October 9th, 2009

Do any of you guys follow the rules when it comes to Anniversary gifts?  And what I mean by rules is the “traditional” vs “modern” anniversary gift list.  Here is an abbreviated version I found on Wikapedia:

anniversary list

The reason I ask is because my 2nd Anniversary is right around the corner.  I always like to be extra creative with my gifts and after checking the LIST, I knew I was going to have my work cut out for me.

So the Traditional 2nd year gift is Cotton.  I mean who came up with this list? The owners of Bed Bath and Beyond? I was totally stumped.  Cotton?  All that came to mind was clothing, towels, a bath robe?

I was recently at my neighbor Karen’s house and was ooh-ing and aah-ing over a painting of her dogs that her God-Mother Dianne had done for her.  And then it came to me!  I have always wanted to have that kind of painting done of OUR dogs!!  And the big twist was to see if Dianne could use a COTTON canvas! I ran home and called her immediately.  She loved my idea of incorporating the cotton and she said to send on some photos and she would get started!

Here are some of the picture’s I sent to her.  Having never met my boys I thought she would need a few personality shots.

It was SO hard to get the boys side by side in a “cute”pose.  They were totally against it.  But Dianne made it work!

Here is the finished product!

DSC_0390I love how she really captured their personalities!

I was so exicited about how it turned out, I just couldn’t wait until the 13th to give it to Mr.vB.

If any of you are looking to have a portrait done I would HIGHLY recommend Dianne!  Drop me an email and I will send you her contact info!

Poor Boots…

July 7th, 2009

Without going into too much graphic detail, Baby Boots had to take an unplanned trip to the vet today. He is having a bit of a fanny problem.  Sure he is now sporting a fancy “Elizabethan collar” around his neck, but he wasn’t gonna let it ruin his day.   He hung his head out of the car window the entire ride home from the vet.  The looks on people’s faces were priceless as they saw him.  Poor baby.  Hopefully within a few days he will be back up and running, minus the fancy collar.

We’re BACK!!

July 5th, 2009

Well our vacation is swiftly coming to an end.  T-minus 15 hours and counting before we are officially back to the grindstone.  Mr. vB and I are sad, but happy to have the “boys” back at home with us.  They have been out at Wingmont Stables and Kennels for the past week while we have been traveling up and down the east coast.  We were both quite excited to pick them up and had to snicker when they came running up to us with matching 4th of July necker-chiefs.

Bailey stayed awake long enough for me to take his photo.  As you can see in the background Boots is already fast asleep! (And behind him Mr. vB is snoozing too!)  The boys love going out to Wingmont and even though it is about 40 mins outside of Richmond, it is well worth the drive.  For one, it is actually cheaper and this is important when you are paying for TWO dogs.  They also have 6 grass play-areas and a gigantic swimming pool for the dogs.  We asked if either of the dogs got in the pool and they said they stayed safely on the sidelines. We weren’t surprised- you would never know these boys were half Labrador’s with their lack of retrieving skills and finickiness when it comes to water.

So while the boys sleep, I am currently uploading the 275 photos we took over the past 10 days.  I am also working up three different posts to give you the full break down of our vacation, photos and all.  We were quite busy and had TONS of fun!

But before I get started, I must give a shout out to my newest favorite follower- Linda Chenery!  Thanks for reading and stay tuned!!

Where my dogs at??

May 12th, 2009

Mr. vB and I came home from a run last night and this is what we found..

Yeah- I figure you are either laughing hysterically like Mr.vB and I were, or you are saying we need to get out of the house more.
