I have been searching for the perfect black flat now for weeks, okay months, but have come up empty handed every time.  Not sure exactly what I’m looking for, but everything I’ve seen is either too flat, too boring, too expensive, or not in my size.  This trip was no different.  I went up and down the flat aisle at DSW about 20 times…I saw several black flats but nothing really, how should we say,  “hit the spot”.

That’s when I decided that I needed to think of this in a different way.  I wanted a pair of basic flats that I could wear with jeans, casual skirts, and shorts once it gets warmer.  Why did I think that black was the only solution?

Enter Metallics- Gold, Bronze, Silver, call it whatever, as long as you call it shiny!

As soon as I changed my mind set, a whole new world of shoes screamed out to me- TAKE ME HOME!

And who was the lucky pair??

Well it’s shoe of the month February, that’s who!

I’m hoping praying, begging that post birth, my foot will shrink back to its normal size.  Otherwise I am going to have about 30 pairs of shoes for sale, including one fabulous brand new pair of Frye Boots.  {Let’s hope for my sanity that they do.}

Now for the record, I wasn’t trying to go for the jungle print look. Both styles just really caught my eye.  I think both will look super cute with blue jeans, cords, etc and provide that casual yet “I can still dress them up” look that I so desire.

I’m sure you’re not surprised to find that both are from Targae’.  Just know that I had to end up purchasing the zebra ones online.   Sometimes it pays to know where all the Target stores in town are located.  Just not in this case.  Of the FIVE Richmond Targets that I visited, only 1 actually had any in stock. Just none in my new larger size!

Have you ever heard of the Jack Rogers Navajo Sandal?  They’ve been around since the 60′s when Jackie O made them famous by sporting them around and they “swiftly became the footwear of choice for resort-chic dressing.”  {No I didn’t come up with that statement myself.  It is straight from the Jack Rogers Website!} Ooh-la-la!!

Rack Room Shoes is getting in on the action too!  A little pricer than the Target version, but they have a nice wedge heel.

The Jill Shoe by Franco Fortini… On Sale for $39.99

(Online they only show this brown option, but I know stores are carrying gold and silver versions too!)

There are definitely subtle differences, but to save $50 to $70 smack-o-roos I think I could live with them.  What about you?
