Yet another busy work week that left no time to blog! Sorry!!!

Mr. vB and I have had a busy weekend working in the yard as well as in the basement.  Photos to follow shortly.

I have also started to empty out the to be nursery.  The hard part is trying to figure out where to put all the displaced things.  Books, frames, knick-knacks.  {Sounds like Mr. vB might need to get busy building bookshelves in some other part of the house.}  I’m also debating on doing a mood board to show you guys what the plan is for the room.. or should it be a surprise?!

On another note, we have about a month left until we get to find out the sex of this little vB that is rocking my world. {14 weeks down and morning sickness is sticking to me like white on rice.}  I’m going to be excited to find out either way, but to be honest I am on TEAM GIRL.  So much so that I couldn’t help myself at Target today.  I figured a little wishful thinking never hurt.

Have no fear though, if we find out it’s a BOY I have until the end of August to return it.

I’ve been a bad blogger lately.  And the worst part is that I don’t even have a good excuse.

I’ve definitely been preoccupied with my Daddio but I also think it’s because Mr. vB and I haven’t started any new home projects.  We’ve been trying to restock the ‘ol savings  account which means no fun projects, how-to’s, or makeovers to tell you guys about.  In other words- BORING!! {Good for the Savings Account, Bad for the you guys.}

It’s also unfortunate because it means no frivolous trips to Target or Secret Marshall’s…  I “should” only when we “need” something.  Don’t I NEED one of the cute new dresses that Liberty of London just debuted at Target?!

I promise though that I do have some good things cooking.  Shoe of the Month-March, an update on my Parent’s House, and hopefully a new radiator cover or window sill to show off on Monday.

This is why i LOVE you so much!  You take an armless chair and cover it with Awesome fabric.  Then you slap an Amazing price on it. You will also send it to me for Free.  It’s like you are almost begging me to buy it from you.  Oh how I wish I had enough space in my house to buy each and every one.  I guess it is time to move!  Until then I will continue to stalk you online and in your stores.  With much love- tvB

Athens, Gerber, Canary and Diamond Upholstered Chair $299

So remember how I was saying I was looking to freshen up the living room a bit?  Well I hit Mr.vB with some of my ideas this past weekend and he was in!.. What a nice surprise!  (disclaimer- both Mr.vB and I have design backgrounds and sometimes we can butt heads about the look we want for the house)

I had been eyeballing this rug at Target the past couple of months, but was never ready to take the plunge.  Well this weekend we took a joint visit trip and when I showed it to Mr. vB he said he liked it too.   We thought the colors in the rug would complement the walls in the living room perfectly.  But instead of buying it right away we came home and took some measurements.  Our row-home is long and narrow, and with the way we have our living room set up we weren’t sure what size rug we were going to need.  The largest size available in the store was a 7 x 10, anything larger we had to buy online.  We decided the 7 X 10 would fit the best, luckily.  I mean doesn’t everyone like immediate gratification?  Who wants to wait for it to arrive via snail mail?

I really like how the rug seems to warm up the room and tie everything together.  Our wood floors are so worn and rough, the rug helps mask them abit until we can get to refinishing them.  The bad thing about the new rug, is that I now want to get new window treatments, new accent pillows (as previously stated) and maybe even a new coffee table/ottoman.  The design wheels are a turning..Mr. vB better watch out!

I had to share this great birthday gift I got from my friend Sauce.  Obviously she has been reading my blog, as she incorporated two of my favorite things into one great gift!

It’s a reusable bag with my nickname embroidered on it!!!  How cute is that?!?!

I love how easily it unfolds to reveal a great bag with a front pocket.  And the pear design is totally fun!

Thanks Sauce!! I know we will put this to good use at Secret Target and Secret Marshalls.

And got the Hudson Console table I posted about in an earlier blog. A big thank you to my mums and daddio for getting it for me as an early BDAY gift!

As always with “build it yourself” furniture from places like Ikea and Target, I fret over the exterior of the box to make sure the cardboard isn’t ripped or dented.  There is nothing worse than getting home with your new piece of furniture, to open the box, and find a big old gash in the leg or door of the piece.  So after I made the nice man at Target pull out multiple boxes, I thought I had scored with the perfect box. No dents, no rips, no nothing.  So how may I ask, did the leg unit that was neatly tucked in the center of the box get the big old ding in the side of it?!? UGH!!  And we didn’t notice it until half way through the build.  HOW ANNOYING!!

Anyways.. with a little help from some wood blending sticks that we picked up from Lowe’s you can barley tell the ding ever existed!

And what a nice addition to the living room our new console table makes!

Also check out the great lamp I had been eyeballing at the “secret Marshalls”. (You might wonder why I keep referring to some stores as “secret”  and it is a good question.  My friend Sauce and I think like to think they are off the beaten path, but I know they aren’t.  It just makes us feel like there is always a deal waiting for us!)  But back to the lamp!  It originally came with a HIDEOUS shade, but thanks to good ole Target I was able to quickly get a new shade that fit it perfectly and at a nice price!

I’m pleased with how it all pulled together.  Let’s just see what Mr.vB thinks when he gets home from his business trip!

Okay- so I will admit I have been to 3 Targets in the past 24 hours, but I was on a mission.  And on the final visit, at the “secret target” (what-up Sauce?!)  I found these:

Now I searched the Target website and found nothing, because apparently this designer collection isn’t suppose to debut until March 29th.  So you can say you saw & heard it first here.

I am true to my addiction.  While traveling for work today out in Western Virginia I hit my “onstar” button and asked the polite lady on the other end, ” Can you tell me if there is a Target in Abingdon, VA?”  Sure enough the polite lady told me there was and then she downloaded the directions to my car.  How sweet is that?!

So as I sit in my hotel room I thought I would do a quick list of the different Target locations that I have visited:

Richmond, Charlottesville, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Roanoke, Danville, Blacksburg, Bristol, and Harrisonburg

I am ADDICTED to Target.

My brother in law put it best when at our wedding he announced to everyone in his speech that I knew where every Target in Southern Virginia was located.  And he was not lying.

Now it’s not like I wake up in the morning and say- hey I am going to the Target in Harrisonburg today.  It’s more like when I am traveling for work and need to kill some time I might “on-star” the nearest location. (thank you GMC for this lovely feature- what did I do before??)  I also like to think of it as market research.  I really can tell a difference between the items purchased at my local Target (Libbie and Broad St) and say the location out in Roanoke.

Some of my most recent shopping victories purchases were from that fabulous Home Design Event they had right after xmas. And which you can still find online.

I think it would be the perfect spot near the front door to drop mail, keys, etc.  Plus it has a nice set of his and hers drawers.  Mr vB is always complaining that I move his things because I think it looks messy.  I figure this way he can have his own junk drawer and we can both be happy!
